The pancake tortoise is one of the most unusual species of tortoises. The pancake tortoise, unlike the entire tortoise species, has a very flattened shell. The Plowshare tortoise is one of the most endangered tortises and one of the most endangered animals in the world. There are about 400 species of plowshare tortoises in the wild today. The plowshare tortoise is found on a very small northern portion of madagascar.
